Our Ambition For Creating Our Own Signature Sneakers

August 2, 2024. We've been working on our own sneakers for a while now. It's always been our ambition to launch our signature sneaker line. Free from dependencies on other parties, we can do everything ourselves without limitations. In 2023, we created our first model: the Morresta, named after Sam's first child. Currently, we're busy developing and testing more models. But why make this shift now? And how does it affect our current production?

Why the Shift?

The main reason for this transition is our ambition to strengthen the VIJZ brand. External factors have increased our urgency and motivation, and now, every Friday, our entire team dedicates time to working on our own sneakers. We're starting by designing various models and making samples. After the first sample is made, the shoe is far from finished. We review how the patterns actually turn out and make necessary adjustments until they are perfect. Then, we wear and test the shoes to see how they perform and make any further adjustments needed to optimize comfort.

Documenting the Process

Throughout this process, we document everything: the creation process, our decisions, meetings, tests, and insights into the craft of shoemaking. We also capture behind-the-scenes moments during launches and campaigns. Ultimately, our goal is to produce a documentary by 2030, showcasing how we brought our own sneakers to market. Why Not Outsource Production?

You might wonder why we don’t produce our sneakers abroad in a factory. One of our core values is the handcrafted aspect of our sneakers. Outsourcing production abroad would mean losing our identity. We remain true to our core: handmade sneakers.
